Potato Bread Served With LOVE

Hey ya”ll,

So, it is week two and things are really starting to heat up (literally, there is still barely any air condition in this office and zero internet access..except on Sarah’s computer..) We have made lots of progress this week setting up meetings, (we have a Senior Dem meeting Sunday), planning one of our TWO house parties and noticing Robert looks like Carlton from Fresh Prince. HAHA

Tuesday, Sarah and I met up with Molly (separately) for her fundraising/donor meetings. For our meeting, we met with Mike Daisley, a very prominent Charlotte lawyer (and CAROLINA alum). I sat back and watched Molly work her magic in her killer purple dress.

Wednesday (today) has been the most fulfilling. We went to a Homeless Helping Homeless meeting  and it was AMAZING! There is an extremely large homeless population in Charlotte and being  one of the most underrepresented groups, hearing their concerns and worries was heartbreaking.  I have experienced homelessness before, so this definitely hit close to home.  I am so excited to work with HHH and their fundraising dance party. (As well as work with them on my own time!!!)

So, tomorrow is the Oath Ceremony (and I am looking forward to being insulted again)

Hope everyone is having an awesome 2nd week!!!!!!!!! 😀 See ya’ll next week!!

Thanks so much for that peek into your life in Charlotte this week, America. I felt like I was there. And I love that you can deal with all of these things with such good humor and resiliency — those are rare traits that will serve you well in the years ahead!!

Thanks for coming to the Mike Daisley meeting with me. I’d be interested in knowing what you thought. I can’t say that was a particularly typical meeting….what with the iphone lesson and all, but it was, as I promised, about relationship and trust building.
