If you haven’t seen this video of 12-year-old Madison Kimrey blowing the crowd away at the October Moral Monday in Burlington, it’s definitely worth the watch. She takes on Gov. McCrory and Sen. Rucho for their arrogant ignorance about North Carolina’s pioneering law to allow pre-registration of 16 and 17 year-olds and require voter registration drives annually in high schools. Democracy North Carolina led the campaign to pass the law in 2010 with strong bipartisan support, and by 2012 more than 60,000 pre-registrants were old enough to participate in the presidential contest. But the program was killed as part of the monster anti-voting law. Madison is working to restore it by the time she turns 16.
Dear Madison,
You are a breath of fresh air and a spirit which is called to great things. Bravo.
You evoke hope for those of us older folks who work for the same goals.
Many Thanks. Keep Calm and Carry On.
