LOD: Spreading Fear & Fraud
More is coming out about the shady activities of Nathan Sproul, a long-time Republican operative and the man behind Strategic Allied Consulting. Authorities in Florida yesterday began a criminal investigation into SAC’s activities after election officials in several counties found suspicious voter registration forms submitted by SAC employees. In many cases, the voter’s party affiliation [...]
LOD: Selling Out
The NC General Assembly adjourned today and the impact of its final decisions will reverberate for years to come – from a conniving vote that legalizes fracking and energy exploration, to the disgraceful deal-making that sold out students, the Racial Justice Act and victims of sterilization, to a last-minute change in the final state budget that [...]

LOD: Wisdom for a New Year

We first arrived there at 1pm and began to organize tasks to complete for the week because we were to begin the meeting at [...]

This trip was primarily to follow up on one-on-ones we had on our last trip, finalize details for our tour stop on the July 16th, and attend an event to get petition signatures for the [...]
LOD: Pay-to-Play Harms Public Health
Pay-to-play politics can be petty – or deadly serious. The Wilmington Star-News reports that state Sen. Thom Goolsby received a $4,000 donation from the head of the city’s home builders association and shortly thereafter introduced a bill in the General Assembly that the association’s lobbyist had prepared. The bill overrides a city policy about how [...]
