Nick Nyhart of Public Campaign has a short column about the underbelly of Washington politics. He begins with the charges against Rep. Charlie Rangel, but explains that “to say that Rangel is the only one mixed up in the unsavory combination of cash, influence and policy-making would be disingenuous.” He then gives links to several bipartisan examples of lawmakers serving their special-interest donors and urges adoption of the Fair Elections Now Act to put government in the hands of we-the-people rather than them-the-selfish-bastards. Democracy NC has a new action alert that makes it easy for people to let their members of Congress know what they think.
