As a transplant from New Jersey, I was delighted that my birth state had come to its political senses as evidenced by the election of Gov. Chris Christie.
I was doubly thankful to see the 112-year old “good old boy” Democratic stronghold on NC overturned on Nov. 2 and the conviction of former Gov. Mike Easley. following in the footsteps of Jim Black.
I look forward to intense scrutiny of the campaign finance irregularities of Gov. Bev Perdue and to her defeat for re-election in 2012

      Beverly,
Yes it really is quite amazing the Gov. Christie was elected in New Jersey. I think that tells you something regarding the resolve of the American people to finally fix our budget problems. I really like the way Gov Christie is standing up to the unions, unfortunately, they are part of the problem. They have negotiated these generous pay and benefits that we simply can’t afford anymore. Our taxes here in North Carolina are out of control. NC needs to look at our neighbors in Tn, SC and Va and get our taxes more in their ranges. We made a mistake in electing Gov Perdue, just as we made a mistake in electing President Obama.

I’m thankful that I’m old and childless and won’t be around long enough to get dragged very far into what’s coming.

I’m thankful I live in a lively, pretty progressive area that can boast of having an organization like Democracy NC on its doorstep. What would we do without you?

Even though Thanksgiving is over and we’re in the midst of Advent, I am thankful for everything I have and enjoying the peace and quiet of this time. Soon I will be rushing around with Christmas preparations, and I won’t feel the peace and quiet again until Christmas Day is past. I am also thankful for Democracy North Carolina and all you do. North Carolina does have problems like every other state, but overall it is a good place to live, and this is NOT my home state. My Christmas wish is an end to greed and corruption at all levels of government and in the business sector. Instead of constantly complaining about our President, let’s pray God guides him on the right path.
