LOD: Democracy Upside Down

“Voting says that the government is accountable to the people; Voter ID says the people are accountable to the government,” reads a letter to the Durham Herald-Sun editor written in response to John Hood’s statement that “Voter ID is not controversial.” Letters like this one are very timely because the issue of voter ID will come up early in the new legislative session. Opponents of a voter ID law should speak out before the session begins on January 30th. This tool on Democracy North Carolina’s website allows anyone to find their local newspaper, craft a letter with handy talking points, and send it within just a few minutes.

Have you sent a letter to the editor speaking out against voter ID? Let us know in the comments!
