LOD: Masked Madness

In another of what has become a pattern of wacko actions, the so-called Voter Integrity Project tried to stage a “fraud-in” at a Raleigh polling place during today’s runoff election. VIP leader Jay Delancy wanted to shoot photos of a group of masked voters to highlight the cheating he believes is committed by poorly identified voters. He got approval for the charade from a precinct official who turns out to be the VIP communications director, but the Wake County and State Boards of Elections blocked his plan, citing two potential violations of state law: no photos inside the polling place (a law to protect ballot secrecy) and no wearing masks inside a public building (a law originally adopted to stop KKK intimidation). No report yet on whether the precinct official will be removed from her post.
