What’s next for selectively reducing turnout in North Carolina? Let’s hope it’s not the voter roll purges that Southern states like Florida and Virginia are now undertaking. With two weeks before a hot gubernatorial election, Virginia is in the midst of a hot debate over whether it’s okay to purge a list of 38,000 voters, even though county election administrators report that 10 to 20% of the names are legitimate voters. The list comes from matching names with voter rolls in other states and felony conviction records – and some argue it’s should be accepted wholesale because it’s at least 80% right! Close enough for you? So much for respecting individual rights and protecting against mass fraud.
