LOD: The Return of Jim Black?

It looks like Speaker Thom Tillis’ squeeze on lobbyists and PACs (described in the LOD two days ago) is working very well. Thanks to his aggressive approach, Tillis is on track to break all records for raising big money from special-interest groups, according to research released today by Democracy North Carolina. Senate President Pro Tem Phil Berger is not far behind. The current holder of the record for raising the most from PACs is the House Speaker who served time for political corruption and bribery, Jim Black; he set the record a decade ago, with so many strings attached he got caught in his own net. Is he really the model for legislative leadership that the Tillis and Berger want to follow?
