LOD: Update on Voter ID

Daily Kos has this update on what it calls the “War on Voting,” including a roundup of news from various states and video clips of Republican leaders using the issue for partisan gain. In one, the Majority Leader of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (Mike Turzai) boasts about his achievements for the year and declares, “Voter ID – which is gonna allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania – done!” On the other hand, Norm Ornstein, a resident scholar at the conservative American Enterprise Institute and native of Minnesota, explains why the photo ID requirement contradicts core Republican principles and should be opposed; it’s on the Minnesota ballot this fall. Fortunately, it looks like the NC General Assembly will not succeed in overriding Gov. Bev Perdue’s veto of a strict version of the photo ID requirement – but if the same legislative leadership is in charge next year, expect the battle to continue.
