Voting is the cornerstone of our democracy and our elections should be free, fair and accessible. A representative government works best when more citizens exercise their right to vote. Democracy North Carolina works on voting and elections to make sure every eligible citizen has the right to vote without intimidation, for the candidate of his or her choice, with the assurance that the vote will be counted.
What We Do
- Advocate electoral policies that make voting more accessible
- Protect voting rights by fighting voter fraud and laws that make it harder to vote
- Provide voter registration training and education
- Lobby local elections boards to expand Early Voting opportunities,
- Get out the vote at election time and provide resources that help partner groups develop and implement voter engagement plans
- Develop and distribute voter guides
- Educate those formerly incarcerated and others on their right to vote
- Participate in Election Protection, a national consortium of voting rights groups that educate people on their rights at election time
- Participate in court cases that seek to remedy violations of voting rights, ensure voting rights are maintained or eliminate corruption in the voting process
