The 1st Week

Being that I’ve never had a job before, getting in the habit of having to be somewhere at a certain time other than school wasn’t the easiest.  Suprisingly I have been early every day so far.

There really isn’t anything to complain about.  Everyone who works here is really sweet and the environment is laid back.   The 9am-5pm days go by way faster than the 1pm-9pm days.  Phonebanking isn’t as bad as I thought it would be.  I acutally like it.  When it reaches that time of the night, it seems like time soars by.  I even got a really nice complement by one of the people I called!  That really gave me an extra boost of confidence.

Working side by side with Jabari is a different experience for me.  Not in a bad way or anything!  I’m just not used to it.  In all of the organizing situations I have usually worked with girls.  So working with a guy, especially a guy who is almost 4yrs older than me  is a different wavelength.  I’m getting used to it though.  It is just interesting to see the different thought patterns.  We’re a pretty good team.

The hardest part is staying organized.  There are so many things that come in all at once, so it is a little hard to prioritize.  You just have to free-lance a little bit and not worry about everything being so structural.   Lobby Day is a perfect example.  We have been making tons of calls, and only have a few people who sound like they really want to go.   You just have to stay focused!

Peace, Love, && Politics,

Juanita
