Victims of the New Election Law Say, “We Learned the Hard Way!”

PRESS ADVISORY

PRESS CONFERENCE TODAY

Democracy North Carolina is releasing new information about hundreds of voters who tried to vote in the May primary but were denied a chance to participate because of major changes in NC’s election law.

The press conference includes the personal stories of a soldier, nurse, disabled senior, student, former felon, precinct official and others – plus a list of over 400 voters from across the state who lost their right to vote.

Where: Outside the State Board of Elections office (441 N. Harrington St., Raleigh)

When: 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 10, one month before the October 10 deadline to register to vote.

Why: To reveal the stories and data about who is losing their right to vote under the new law and to alert citizens what they can do to avoid harm.
