Democracy Summer
Every summer Democracy North Carolina hires outstanding college undergraduates to participate in a full-time organizing apprenticeship. Students accepted to this 9-week program learn the basics of community organizing for social change, including the connections between money in politics and social justice issues like the environment, racial equity, healthcare, voting rights and more.
Students in the program work full-time from late May to late July and earn a stipend of $3,000 for the summer. This is a full-time job, so students who have to do summer classes or have other, part-time work cannot realistically complete the program.
