Empowering New Generations
We Couldn't Have Said It Better Ourselves...
Meet Fayetteville teacher Kevin Hight and his high school class of future citizen advocates in this wonderful video from UNC-TV as they talk about the importance of being involved in civic affairs and recognizing that our actions today shape our future. Hight teaches at Terry Sanford High School in Cumberland County and is a dedicated proponent of creating what he calls "a nation of critical thinkers." Judging from the video, he's doing his job well.
Among other exercises (and with the help of Democracy NC Organizer Ashley Foxx), Hight's class created some outstanding public service announcements on the importance of early voter registration for youth. If you're a teacher in a North Carolina school and want to learn more about how we can help you enrich your civic curriculum, please contact us for more information.
