An Outstanding Resource on Local Democracy:
A brilliant and generous team of authors have named Democracy North Carolina as the recipient of proceeds from their book, Local Democracy Under Siege: Activism, Public Interest and Private Politics. The book is a study of five North Carolina communities, including some Democracy NC target areas. It is a must-read for anyone concerned about creating a truly participatory society.
Many thanks to its authors and UNC faculty members Donald Nonini and Dorothy Holland for their research and philanthropy. You can order on-line at any book site. It’s also available at Triangle bookstores, including Bull’s Head Bookshop (UNC-Chapel Hill), Regulator Bookshop (Durham) and Quail Ridge Books & Music (Raleigh).
